Tapping into issues of childhood to maturity through a sequence of factual and fictional events, Faiz’s paintings blur the line between reality and fiction. Abstract thoughts are reflected through symbolism and metaphor, leading the viewer to be transported to another time frame.
About Fatima Jamil Faiz: Fatima Jamil Faiz is a Pakistani-Canadian artist who was born and raised in Pakistan. In 2007, Faiz relocated to California from Canada to complete her MFA at California State University, Fullerton where she is currently a teaching associate. Faiz received her B.F.A. in Painting, Drawing and Print Making from the Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture, Karachi, Pakistan. She is the recipient of the Graduate Scholarship, Book/Loan Scholarship, as well as the African-American Faculty and Staff Association ‘Prospect for Change’ Scholarship at California State University, Fullerton. Fatima’s work has been exhibited in art galleries in Canada, Pakistan and the US. Her illustrations have been published in four children’s books with Book Group Inc. in Pakistan. Fatima is currently commissioned to work on ancient folklore and mythology illustrations for a children’s book soon to be published in the US.
